Where Is Mount Kilimanjaro Located?
Mount Kilimanjaro is located in northeastern Tanzania, near the Kenyan border. It is part of the Kilimanjaro National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The mountain is situated close to the city of Moshi, at the northern end of the East African Rift Valley.

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa, standing at an impressive 19,341 feet (5,895 meters). It is comprised of three distinct volcanic cones – Mawenzi, Shira and Kibo – which are connected by a series of ridges. The mountain is part of the Eastern Arc Mountains, a mountain range which stretches from the Taita Hills in Kenya to the Udzungwa Mountains in Tanzania. Mount Kilimanjaro is also the highest free-standing mountain in the world, meaning it is not connected to any other range.
The mountain is situated close to the equator, and as such, experience very little seasonal variation in climate. It is also one of the few places in the world where it is possible to climb from the tropics to the polar regions, as the mountain has five distinct climate zones, from the equator to the summit.
